RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai

There is so much to do in Chiang Mai. I rode an elephant, visited temples, traveled along the river on a bamboo raft and tonight there is a Flaming Lantern ceremony.

The RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort is as exciting as Chiang Mai. RatiLanna is very Thai. That’s what I want to feel that I am in Thailand. I entered my guest room and was surprised to see waterfalls in the bathroom! Guests could relax in the extra large tub for two with the waterfall on the side and a television on the wall in front of them.

Even the private balcony was special with a day bed to add a touch of luxury for guests to lie down and enjoy the views of the waterfalls, Lilly pond, infinity pool and the Ping River. It was a tropical scene of natural beauty!

La Iad Bungsrithong, the General Manager, explained, “We like to have water features around our property inside the guest rooms and public areas. Each of our 75 deluxe rooms and suites have three televisions. In the lobby, the furnishings were created with traditional designs from the history of Chiang Mai inspired from the ancient Wat Gate community.”

The couches have high backs which are bent over like branches on a tree. There are several areas to stroll around and just enjoy the resort. One public room had a gigantic golden Buddha while the another room offered an exotic red couch and two chairs for families or couples. There were many hideaways for privacy.

What a setting for a wedding or party! The resort has three indoor banquet rooms accommodating groups up to 150 with a theater layout or 90 for a sit down dinner. They arrange cocktail parties on the Riverside lawn for 200 or dinner for 150. Both western-style and traditional menus are prepared.

I only ate a buffet breakfast in their outdoor Mira Terrace but the view of the Ping River made it feel more like a dining experience. The all-you-can-eat buffet filled one room and a section of the other. Even though I didn’t eat in the two restaurants, I wanted to mention them. This is a chance for diners to enjoy the typical Northern Thailand version of cuisine along with Thai and Thai fusion selections. Their Rio Restaurant is Chiang Mai’s first and only Churrascaria Brazilian BBQ.

The RatiLanna Resort is the only hotel with its own pier and their traditional Dragon Boat is available at the resort’s dock for visits to the temple and other excursions. The Night Bazaar is a popular stop to see locally-made handicrafts and souvenirs. www.tourismthailand.org www.ratilannachiangmai.com www.chiangmai.net/

I reviewed the resort, didn’t receive any money;
