One of the things we can do in Chiang Mai is to visit the Huay Tung Tao Lake. Located a little more than 12 km from the city, this place is perfect to disconnect from the bustle of Chiang Mai, rest after a long day of visits around Chiang Mai and enjoy its local atmosphere.
CHIANG MAI AND LAKE HUAY TUNG TAO
Huay Tung Tao is well known and visited by the inhabitants of Chiang Mai. During the weekend or at work parties it is common to see families of Thai people enjoying a day of picnic and the lake waters. In fact many people refer to the lake as the beach of Chiang Mai.
Right at the entrance to the enclosure you will find the different picnic areas along the shore with bamboo huts where you can relax and enjoy the rich cuisine of Chiang Mai, especially seafood and freshwater fish caught in the lake itself or grilled chicken or pork with curry and culinary curiosities such as fried frogs, a real delicacy.
