The best way to go to the Doi Inthanon National Park is on your own, either by motorbike or rented car, or on a hired excursion. As it is so far away from Chiang Mai it is very difficult to go by public transport.

As you can see, a visit to the Doi Inthanon National Park is perfect for a full day excursion around Chiang Mai and the entrance fee to the park is 300 bth per person.

If your idea is to ride a motorcycle, remember only to do so if you already know how to drive one.
If your idea is to do a long trekking you should ask for information at the park offices. There you will be assigned a guide to do the tour.
The best time to enjoy the park is from October to April. This is when the area is at its greenest and the waterfalls have a lot of water. Remember that you will reach more than 2000 m of altitude. That makes it a bit cold or foggy. Travel in a raincoat or something to keep you warm.
