Every night a sleep train leaves from the Hua Lampong train station for Chiang Mai. These companies offer us connections almost every hour between both cities, with comfortable flights of just over 2 hours. All flights operated by low cost companies depart from the Domestic Airport of Don Mueang.

If your idea is to go from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in high season by train, bus or plane try to have your tickets booked as soon as possible.
If you want to go by bus, avoid buying your ticket at travel agencies on Khao San Road. Many of these companies are very reliable, with poor service. It is better to go to Mo Chit and from there take the bus.
In terms of price/quality the best option is to go from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is to go by sleeper train. If you take it 2nd class with a fan, avoid the air-conditioned cabin, it is more expensive and it is usually quite cold.
The sleeper train is a way to save time and the night of accommodation.
If you do not have much time, the best thing to do is to go by plane. If you buy the tickets in advance you will find very economic promotions and you will gain much more time.
